Today her family and friends say their goodbyes to our friend Jan Struckhoff – the loving Mom of your furriends Sam, Sabrina and Simon, to most of you know as the Rocky Mount Meezers.
Our thoughts are with them when they go through the hardest hours you can go when a loved one is not there anymore.
She left our world unexpected last Tuesday and left us behind with an aching heart but also with a mark on my heart that resembles her wonderful smile – Her smile, her wonderful kind words she always had for everyone – that’s how I want to remember her always. The wonderful hours we spent with other catloving friends in a chatzy chat or on Facebook being the crazy catwomen we are – these moments are treasured in my heart and will never fade.
Keith, her wonderful husband, posted on her facebook wall a message that opened my heart because he is so true:
Hi this is Keith, I wasn’t going to write again, but, I talked to a person for an hour and one half today that was one of Jan’s cat friends. So I want to tell everyone that if you want to do something in remembrance of Jan, give your significant other a hug, at least once every month, and tell them you love them! I only wished I would have done it more, we did, but now its not enough. Jan would appreciate it very much!!!!!!!!
Jan, the world has lost a wonderful person we all loved so much
- but heaven is now very rich because you are the newest Angel there!

What a lovely tribute and wonderful photo collage of Jan and her Meezers! And so true that we are left behind with regrets that Keith’s words tell of… No one regrets giving more hugs or saying I love you more often. Those are the regrets, I too, am left with when my husband died suddenly. But as with his passing, may Jan’s passing help remind us to pick up the phone, send an email or a card and tell those we love, even if we have never met, that they are an important part of our life and we want them in it…
We didn’t know Jan very well, but have visited her blog a lot recently, and know that she was loved by so many people, who wished they could have met her in person.
The CB makes the miles between us disappear and we are left behind with regrets that those dreams will not ever be real now…
I brings me comfort to know that the Meezers will help Jan’s husband through this saddest of times…a part of her that will be with him always.
May the kitties comfort Jan’s husband during this time of such grief…it will be hard to find the strength to go on, but as I did when my husband died, it’s one paw in front of the other, until it gets easier…Sending our sympathies their way…
