thinking…
It’s not a very good qualiity pic of me but momma says she likes it – so ok I chose it for todays post.
I am thinking of dear Miss Peach and sending lots of healing purrs and purrayers.
Momma is home today ’cause the 26th of October is the Austrian National Day and therefore she has not to go to work.
We are spending some real good snuggling time in bed wif her. We had breakfast (well it was more a brunch then a breakfast) in bed and we think we might have dinner in bed also watching TV and cuddling together as the weather has not been very nice the whole day.
Momma toldes us that today we are celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Neutrality which took place in 1955 after World War II.
The Declaration of Neutrality was a declaration by the Austrian Parliament declaring the country permanently neutral. It was enacted on October 26, 1955 as a constitutional act of parliament, i.e. as part of the Constitution of Austria.
Formally, the declaration was promulgated voluntarily by the Republic of Austria. Politically, it was the direct consequence of the allied occupation by the Soviet Union, the United States, the United Kingdom and France between 1945 and 1955, from which the country was freed by the Austrian State Treaty of May 15 of the same year. The Soviet Union would not have agreed to the State Treaty if Austria had not committed itself to declare its neutrality after the allied forces have left the country.
Since 1955, neutrality has become a deeply ingrained element of Austrian identity. Austria’s national holiday on October 26 commemorates the declaration. Legally, Austrian neutrality is both part of the Austrian constitution and of international law. There is an ongoing debate among legal scholars whether Austria could change this neutral status on its own account. This is a moot point, however, since there is no political or popular support for doing so.

Today many people say that Neutrality is not as important as it has been before and Austria should think of getting rid of the Neutrailty.
Well, as always there are good points about this thought but also some not so good ones.
Momma says she’d have a better feeling if Austria would stay neutral…. after all permanently is permanently and not permanently till we decide to get rid of it anyways…. Beans IS weird!!
Hope you all have a nice friday!
